The Squirrel’s Playground stems from a morbid fascination which goes back to my early years. On moving to London and temporarily living with my Uncle I came to realise that his house was roughly 0.7 miles from three different graveyards. This strange coincidence led me to visit each cemetery regularly over a period of three weeks (most of the duration of my stay) and capture what interested me at each individual site. They all were different in their own ways, except each seemed to be a thriving ground for wildlife – proving to be a subject prevalent in many images. Before the project I had never liked visiting graveyards, but after repeat trips I have come to appreciate a beauty in the eeriness of land filled with stone monuments marking those who have passed on from this world.
